This cohort study of ... patients with complex medical comorbidity found that social risks were associated with higher odds of inpatient admissions, emergency department visits, and mental health visits during a 1-year period. Individuals with added social risks were younger and more likely to be Medicaid eligible and Black or Hispanic. Efforts to address health care use in patients with complex medical comorbidity may benefit from concurrent efforts to reduce social risks.
