Nancy Streber Memorial Golf Classic continues record-breaking fundraising for McLaren Hospice The County Press, Davison, MI; 6/26/24 The 76th Annual Nancy Streber Memorial Golf Classic held May 11 at Heather Hills Golf Course near Romeo, raised more than $15,000 for McLaren Hospice’s end-of-life care services — breaking its fundraising record previously reached in 2023. The event, founded by Dave Streber and his family, honors the memory of his mother, Nancy, and the care her father received as a McLaren patient. In addition to the fundraising milestone, the event hosted 140, making it one of the largest, most successful events in the memorial outing’s history. “We are profoundly grateful for the 27 years of dedication from Dave Streber and his family, as well as the numerous organizations and all of individuals who have contributed to this event and supported McLaren Hospice over the years,” said Cindy Tomlinson, MSN, RN, vice president of hospice at McLaren Health Management Group.

Getting muddy for Center for Hospice Care LaporteCounty.life; by Center for Hospice Care, Valpraiso, IN; 6/24/24The Sunday of Memorial Day weekend the South Bend Sod Busters hosted their annual mud bog. For years a portion of the proceeds from this event have benefitted Center for Hospice Care. One of the first times Red Fisher attended the event as the events manager for Hospice Foundation, he told the organizers, "When you go over $100,000 total for this event, I will go down the bog in a white tuxedo!" A couple of years ago, they surpassed that mark – and this year Red kept his word. Cruisin’ Zeake surpasses $100K raised for Hospice of Northwest Ohio WTVG 13 Action News, Toledo, OH; by Alexandria Manthey; 6/15/24 A classic car show on fathers day weekend is sure to have some family fun, but Saturday’s show at Levis Commons in Perrysburg meant more than that. After 14 years of raising money for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Cruisin’ Zeake hit $100,000 raised. Zeake said his group’s car shows make up the second biggest fundraising events for the charity. They surpassed the six figure number by just $16 at Saturday’s Classic Car Show at Levis Commons. Proceeds of the 50/50 and all the money in the donation jar will benefit Hospice. “I’ve got people behind me, it’s not just Cruisin’ Zeake,” Zeake said. “The car community, they have hearts of gold. When I ask them to step up, they’re there."

Seven St Margaret's Hospice employees cycled to work on Tuesday morning to mark Bike Week. ... The group raised £1,000 for the Taunton hospice, which they say could pay for 24 hours of expert specialist care on its inpatient unit, with donations still coming in. ... The idea for the challenge began with senior IT technician, Jack Gorman, whose colleagues had been encouraging him to cycle to work more often. Country club concert raises more than $7,500 for nonprofit mission Avow Press Release; 6/7/24 On April 28, 2024, Vineyards Country Club members gathered for a performance by Deb and the Dynamics, raising more than $7,500 to support Avow’s mission. The concert was held on the club’s green, where members relaxed on lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy tunes from the seven-piece rock and soul band, who electrified the atmosphere for the evening. “Our members and staff love Avow and all they do for the community,” says Vineyards Country Club Senior Director of Activities & Member Experience Julie Inman. “We couldn't imagine a more deserving organization to support.” This concert was not just about entertainment but also about positively impacting the patients and families touched by Avow’s services.

This grant is designated for the expansion of home and community-based services to Medicaid members residing in under served regions of North Dakota.

Golf tournament raises more than $16k for hospice The Villages Daily Sun (FL); by James Dinan; 5/13/24 The Women’s Guild at St. George Episcopal Church in The Villages was determined to raise lots of money for Cornerstone Hospice on May 2 through its annual Peg Busch Ladies Golf Scramble. By the time all was said and done, the guild went beyond even what its leaders expected. “We were hoping to crack the $10,000 mark for the first time,” said Dale Dreps, who helped organize this year’s tournament. “But we managed to raise $16,150 for Cornerstone Hospice this year. We couldn’t believe it.”

Hike For Hospice surpasses expectations: Brings in over $167k CKXS, 99.1, Chatham-Kent & Lambton County (Southwest Ontario, Canada); 5/7/24 An annual walk in support of end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent has smashed its fundraising record. More than 500 people took part in the eighth annual Hike for Hospice event on Sunday at John McGregor Secondary School and Mud Creek Trail. The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation surpassed its $140,000 fundraising goal, bringing in $167,500 through pledges collected by hikers and sponsors. “It was so touching to see so many people walking together on the trail and all the memorial signs are just a reminder of the impact Hospice has made in our community,” said Event Co-Chair Ginny Hawken in a news release.

Over $293k bequeathed to Valley Hospice by former Marshall County teacher The Intelligencer, Wheeling News-Register; by Shelley Hanson; 5/7/24; titled "Nearly $1.5M Bequeathed to Organizations by Former Marshal County Teacher" [Wheeling, WV] Nearly $1.5 million was bequeathed to four different organizations during a memorial luncheon honoring the late Harold Vitalie, a former Marshall County educator who died in 2023. ... Valley Hospice, the Ohio County Public Library and Marshall County Public Library each received $293,531. The John Marshall High School Scholarship Fund received $587,063. ... Jennifer Taylor of Valley Hospice described the gift of money as “transformational” for Valley Hospice. Vitalie’s mother was taken care of by Valley Hospice before she died.

Scotland Regional Hospice Golf Tournament garners $180KThe Laurinburg Exchange; 5/3/24 The Scotland Regional Hospice Golf Tournament returned to Scotch Meadows Country Club for the 38th year on Tuesday and Wednesday raising $180,383. Since its inception in the 1987, $4.7 million has been raised and all proceeds go toward Scotland Regional Hospice. ... About 60 volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure success of the tournament. Volunteer co-coordinator Bill Hill said, “This tournament is 95% volunteer run. ... SRH is a non-profit organization that provides end-of-life care to people in the area.
