The COVID-19 pandemic led to a dramatic increase in telemedicine use [in health systems]. Although rates have fallen subsequently, telemedicine use continues to be substantially higher than before the pandemic. ... Given concerns that telemedicine’s convenience will lead to more visits, the relatively small increase in visits that we observed was surprising.
