Sociology professor Marcus Kondkar said he thinks it is everyone’s basic civil responsibility to look at what is going on behind prison sentences and look at the people being put in prison. “I think it’s a little bit cowardly for us not to confront the consequences of these policies; these punishments have been given out in our names,” Kondkar said.
